What is a Consulting Arborist?
The American Society of Consulting Arborists is a national organization that supports tree care professionals by providing training for arborists. This group awards and governs the credentials of a Registered Consulting Arborist. Obtaining the title and status of a Registered Consulting Arborist builds upon the years of experience gained by a practicing arborist. There are various paths to the fulfillment of minimum requirements for the initial application. Approved applicants must attend and complete a week-long training academy taught by mentors within the American Society of Consulting Arborists. An exam is given upon completion of this course. The passing applicants must compose and submit two separate Arborist Reports to be graded. Only applicants scoring passing grades on the exam and required reports become Registered Consulting Arborists. Annual minimums of continuing education credits are required to maintain their credentials.
